More pictures of Jackson at 7 weeks!

A recent picture of Jackson posing for Aunt Joanna!

A picture of Jackson's first trip out to the doctor with me.

This was one of Jackson's first pictures! The nurses had just finished cleaning him up and putting a diaper on him.

Wow! It has been a long time since I've updated our blog! The past couple of months have been a whirlwind. Jackson Ray James was born on May 24th and 5:22 in the morning. He weighted 8.6 pounds and was 20 inches long. He is now almost 8 weeks old and continues to change and grow so much everyday. Over the past two weeks he has started to smile more and we think we heard a little giggle the other day. Here are some recent pictures of Jackson talking to his Nana and smiling!

Jackson's room is ready to go! We have a few small things to add which we will have time for. And although my due date is almost a week away my doctor seems to think I have a few more weeks to go! Jackson will come when he's ready!

Waiting on Baby Jackson to arrive!

Derek and I have been so busy the past month I haven't had time to update our blog! We had our last two showers, finished setting up the nursery and have had lots of errands to run to get everything done for the arrival of our baby boy! I am now 38 weeks pregnant (starting my 39th week today) and anxiously awaiting for Jackson to be here. Here is a recent picture of my ever so big baby bump and a pic from one of my showers. We have been blessed with lots of gifts and love from family and friends.

Our 2ND shower for Jackson was over the weekend. A group of my really good friends hosted it. It was wonderful! The food was great and the decorations were adorable. I am blessed to have such good friends. Jackson got lots of new clothes, books, toys and blankets (just to name a few). I am so excited to use all of them with him soon. Especially the Tuckie Duckie (to be used for bath time).

I am 34 weeks now and as many people call it I have started my "nesting". I have probably been doing that for a few weeks now but the urge to get things organized has definitely intensified. Derek seems to be getting more and more excited. I just can't wait for him to hold Jackson! I really think his daddy instincts will kick in then. As far as mine, I feel like they already have!

Derek and I are very busy these days. Derek's been busy watching basketball (I guess I've been watching it too) and I've been busy getting things ready for Jackson. Only 7 more weeks to go (give or take a week or so). We finally got all of our bedding so his crib is ready to go! His nursery is really starting to come together. We had our first shower in Brownwood over the weekend. It went well. We got lots of cute clothes, blankets and hooded towels. We even got our Pack N' Play!

I am 33 weeks now and as you can see, I am really starting to look huge! I am finding it harder and harder to fit through certain areas. For example, I can no longer slide between two chairs even if the two chairs have a good distance between them. And yes, I tried (different ways actually) not really thinking about it but soon realized it just wasn't going to happen. At least those around me got a good laugh myself included!

We have finally decided on a name for our baby boy. We debated back and forth between Davis and Jackson pretty much since we found out we were pregnant. And after many many talks we have decided to use Jackson Ray. This was the name we picked out about 4 years ago or more as our first sons name so we couldn't let it go. But at least we have a name for our second son! (if we have a second son)

I am 31 weeks pregnant and continue to grow each day which I know is expected. :) I am now seeing the doctor every two weeks which will turn into once a week when we are a month out from his due date. A good nights sleep is pretty much out of the question now! Between middle of the night bathroom breaks and trying to find a comfortable way to sleep I really don't get that much sleep time. But instead of getting annoyed, I just remind myself how blessed we are to be having a baby boy and what joy he will bring into our lives. Reminding myself of this really helps to put the "lack of sleep" in perspective. And I only know it will get worse but its well worth it!

I can't believe we have 9 (or less) weeks to go!! Wow how time flies.

Today I officially became Daisy Duck. My butt sticks out the back, my tummy sticks out the front and as of today, I waddle. Maybe because my feet hurt, maybe because our baby is weighing more now but either way, I waddle. So my favorite word for today is QUACK!

The great news is I have 10 (give and take) more weeks to go! He continues to move and in more interesting ways. Derek and I were watching him move the other day (by looking at my tummy of course). We decided to poke my tummy where he was moving and he decided to poke back! Yes, we poked him and he pushed right back. It was really funny but surreal.

Derek and I took maternity pictures a few weeks ago. They turned out to be very cute. It's a little odd to look at yourself with such a big belly but I know one day I will cherish them more than I do now. I have uploaded just a few:) I was 26 weeks at the time of the pictures. I am 29 now and my tummy had grown!

So I've been up since 4:30 and instead of lying in bed letting my mind wonder (I'm mainly thinking about things I have to do) I decided to update our blog. Baby Davis has been doing a lot of moving this morning. That might mean lots of early mornings for me when he's born! Getting a good nights sleep is getting harder and harder. It's just so hard to find a comfortable way to sleep when you can only sleep in two positions! I switch from side to side and every time I change sides I have to move my ginormous body pillow so needless to say it takes me 5 minutes to. By the time I switch sides my body is aching so much from being on that one side for so long that it takes me even longer to move. And to be honest, by the time I get there I realize I have to pee! From what I hear the lack of sleep towards the end of pregnancy is just to prepare you for when the baby comes. Either way, I am really starting to value my sleep when I can get it!

We have all of our furniture in! Yea! Derek has put the crib together and we are waiting on our bedding. I just posted a picture of the crib. We also have a dresser and hutch combo and a 5 drawer dresser. Our crib converts to a toddler bed and then later to a full size bed. We are more and more ready for our baby boy. Three more months to go!

Baby James is moving a lot these days. He weighs about two pounds and is 14 1/2 inches long (according to Baby Center). And by looking at me, you can tell he is a growing boy! I am pretty sure I'm at that point where I will continue to get bigger and bigger each week!

26 Weeks

For Valentines Day, Derek and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Churrascos! I love plantains especially the grilled ones that come with your vegetable plate! It's crazy to think that next year at this time we will have a little boy:)

I have decided to start a list of the things NOT to say to pregnant woman. I will add to this list as needed. So that I don't embarrass anyone, I will not mention WHO the comments were made by.

1. "Do you really need that second bowl of cereal"?

2. "Oh look, your hips have expanded, your body is getting ready for the baby".

3. "How cute, your face is rounder".

New Years Eve! We went to Guadalajara to celebrate with friends that we are having a little boy! I even got to sip on a margarita while we were there! Yes, my doctor said it was ok and I enjoyed it with a nice glass of water. I think Baby James actually liked the margarita!

Here are a few pictures of Baby James from our last ultrasound which was done at 20 weeks. I have inlcuded one of our 4D pictures. Look closely and you can see his little arm in front of his face. His face is still developing and he will get more fat on him of course.

Derek and I finally got the nursery painted! Well it was actually Derek who got it done, I just feel better when I say we both did it:) I didn't get a picture of Derek painting the nursery but I did get a good picture of the room once it was done. The color is very similar to the guest room but will go well with the babies bedding:) We like those neutral colors!

I figured I should add the other 2 members of our family to our blog. Bud is now 6 months and his older but smaller brother is 3 1/2 years old. Boozer will be 4 on May 23rd only a few days after Baby James' due date!

22 weeks

Derek and I are in the long process of getting not only the nursery ready but our whole house ready for Baby James. The guest room furniture is in the room that will soon become the nursery but before we can move it over to the "new guest room", we wanted to paint. So, Derek spent most of his weekend painting the guest room. It looks great! Now all we need to do is move the furniture over. Derek will be doing that tonight:) Being preggo really limits the activities you can do. Below are a few pictures of Derek painting. He's not too thrilled with getting his picture taken.

Below are some pics of my baby bump. I am so excited I finally have a bump. And although I love having my baby bump I can't help but to look at myself weird in the mirror. It's almost like, "really, my body looks like that". I can't help but to feel like a mama hippo. But I guess I enjoy the mama hippo look!

21 Weeks!

19 Weeks

We have fianally joined the world of blogging! I guess it was about time especially with Baby boy James on the way. We haven't decided on a name yet but its a toss up between Jackson and Davis. We picked Jackson as our first sons name even before we got married so it's really hard for us to give that name up. But on the other hand, we really like Davis. Davis is my Nana's maiden name and with the middle name that we want to use (Derek's middle name Ray) our son would have the same initals as his daddy and his grandfather (who will be called Papa). We really like that idea. It just seems more meaningful to use Davis. As of today, we are leaning more towards Davis! Tomorrow might be Jackson:)
